SS Trondhjemsfjord : ウィキペディア英語版
SS Trondhjemsfjord
SS ''Trondhjemsfjord'' was a 4,248-tonne Norwegian-registered ocean liner that sailed for the Norwegian America Line between Norway and the United States.
The vessel was launched 21 December 1911 by Northumberland Shipbuilding Company of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, and delivered in March 1912 as SS ''Cotswold Range'' for Neptune Steam Navigation Company of Sunderland – owned since 1906 by Furness Withy in Hartlepool, UK. The ship was sold to the Norwegian America Line on 23 December 1914 and renamed ''Trondhjemsfjord''.
While sailing from New York to Bergen, Norway, ''Trondhjemsfjord'' was torpedoed by German submarine U-41, captained by Claus Hansen, northwest of the Shetland Islands on 28 July 1915. The passengers and crew of the sunken ship were rescued by the sailing vessel ''Glance'';〔 the submarine that sank ''Trondhjemsfjord'' was itself sunk on 24 September of the same year.
